NEWPORT, Tenn. (WATE) — Newport Police Officer Brandon Cassady is facing serious charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment after a woman accused him of restraining her on a bed and not allowing her to leave a bedroom, according to court documents.

The incident came to light on Monday when a deputy from the Cocke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance report. The officer spoke with a woman who claimed that Cassady had confronted her with allegations of infidelity.

As detailed in the court records, the woman reported that Cassady physically restrained her on a bed, attempted to seize her phone, and prevented her from leaving the room. Two children were present during the incident. Seeking help, she contacted a man who stepped in to assist. The affidavit also noted her claim that this behavior had been ongoing for several months.
