(NEXSTAR) — Planning to pick up a prescription at CVS today? Your wait time might be longer than usual due to a current system outage affecting some of its pharmacies.

Responding to a query on X regarding the duration of CVS’ system downtime, the company acknowledged the issue, stating they are dealing with a “known system outage.”

In a statement provided to Nexstar, a CVS spokesperson explained the situation as a “network connection issue” impacting several pharmacies. They assured that efforts are underway to resolve it swiftly.

“Although the majority of our locations are still able to fill prescriptions, some customers might encounter delays,” the spokesperson added. They also clarified that this issue is not connected to the AWS outage that occurred on Monday.

Meanwhile, posts from purported CVS employees on Reddit indicate that the system is intermittently failing, making it difficult to complete transactions consistently.

Late last month, CVS similarly confirmed it was “experiencing a known system outage” at “certain locations,” according to replies the company made on X.

The latest outage comes just days after CVS finished buying the customer prescription files from hundreds of Rite Aid stores that closed after the drugstore chain filed for its second bankruptcy filing earlier this year.

CVS said last week that it is now running 63 former Rite Aid and Bartell Drug stores across Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Customer files from 626 now-shuttered Rite Aid pharmacies in 15 states have also been transferred to nearby CVS locations.

Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based CVS Health Corp. runs several thousand drugstores. It also operates a large pharmacy benefits management business, and its Aetna health insurance segment covers nearly 27 million people.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
