AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Augusta Metro Chamber’s Women in Business Program launched its 2025 Signature event with much fanfare on Tuesday, October 21.
The gathering served as a vibrant celebration aimed at uniting, supporting, and empowering women in the business sector. This year, the event embraced the theme “Champions On and Off The Court.”
Participants were inspired by Debbie Antonelli, a South Carolina native renowned for her 38-year career in broadcasting college basketball for networks like ESPN and CBS.
“It’s about inspiring others to discover their passion and pursue what brings them joy,” Antonelli shared. “You can be a champion both as an athlete and in other aspects of life. Tonight’s a fun night—we get to wear sneakers and talk about basketball. I’m thrilled to share my journey with everyone here.”
Antonelli, a two-time Emmy Award winner for her outstanding work in basketball commentary, has also made significant contributions off the court. Inspired by her son, who has Down Syndrome, she established “24 Hours Nothing But Net,” a marathon free throw shooting fundraiser for the Special Olympics that has raised over $1.4 million in the past seven years.
