CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The esteemed Savannah-based company, Livingood, is set to expand its footprint after nearly half a century in business. On Tuesday, they celebrated a milestone by breaking ground in the rapidly growing community of Pooler.

According to City Manager Heath Lloyd, Pooler’s unique appeal aligns perfectly with what Livingood aims to achieve. “I think our structure here in the city of Pooler really fit what they wanted to bring in terms of a business,” he commented, reflecting on why companies like Livingood are flocking to the city.

Pooler has experienced a remarkable 25% surge in both residential growth and commercial activity, alongside a boost in tourism over the past five years. These changes are driving the city’s ambitious plans for the future, as highlighted during Monday night’s City Council meeting. The discussions included a significant $40 million investment earmarked for infrastructure enhancements in 2025, along with strategic budget planning for 2026.

Among the top priorities for the city are the redevelopment of infrastructure, roads, and green spaces, which will see a substantial half-a-million-dollar allocation. However, the most ambitious undertaking involves an extensive overhaul of the city’s drainage system. “In SPLOST Eight, there’s another $4 million just for drainage, and we’re looking to put even more money into drainage,” Lloyd noted, underscoring the city’s commitment to addressing this crucial issue.

“In SPLOST Eight, there’s another $4 million just for drainage and we’re looking to put even more money into drainage,” said Lloyd.

Lloyd says the city will focus on quality of life with future plans while making sure infrastructure can support the growth that is happening.
