A Melbourne business owner says he feared for his life when a group of armed teens destroyed his store hours after one of them was ejected for assaulting a cashier.

Last evening, chaos erupted at the Fortune Asian Supermarket located within the Northland shopping centre in Preston. Just after 7 p.m., a group of three young individuals burst into the store, wielding a cricket bat and a crowbar.

Once inside, they wreaked havoc, damaging merchandise, shelves, and cash registers. In a disturbing turn of events, they also reportedly attacked two employees, with one unfortunate staff member suffering a kick to the back.

The motive behind this violent outburst appears to be retaliation. Earlier in the day, a teenage girl was escorted out of the store after allegedly attacking a cashier. She later returned, this time with reinforcement.

Homer, the store owner and a new father, recounted the frightening ordeal, stating that he was also menaced with a machete during the incident.

Store owner Homer, who is a new dad, claims he was also threatened with a machete.

“That’s the worst part. Everyone could have been killed,” he said.

“My family is everything to me. It’s just too much.”

Homer says sales at the shopping centre grocer have been continually declining as customers grow increasingly scared of violent acts that plague Northland.

He’s calling on the community to support small businesses like his, in its time of need.

“Very upset. I need to keep going for my family.”

The attackers remain on the run.
