Ravens QB Lamar Jackson returns to practice ahead of Week 8 game vs. Bears

Lamar Jackson has made his return to the gridiron.

The quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens was back at practice on Wednesday afternoon, preparing for the team’s Week 8 game against the Chicago Bears scheduled for Sunday.

This marked Jackson’s first practice session since enduring a hamstring strain during Baltimore’s 37-20 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs on September 28—a setback that has sidelined him for two games so far.

“We definitely missed him,” Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum remarked to reporters following the practice session. “He’s on track to keep improving, and we’ll be thrilled to see him back on the field whenever he’s ready.”

At 28 years old, Jackson joined his teammates approximately 20 minutes into the practice. Observers, including The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, noted him running and making warmup throws.

It was a welcome sight after Jackson missed practice Monday after the Ravens were on a bye the previous week.

There were rumblings that Jackson could still miss the Bears game this week.

“I had a couple of conversations with people familiar with this situation that led me to believe Jackson might miss another game while recovering from the injury,” said ESPN’s Dan Graziano earlier Wednesday morning.

Despite his practice return, Jackson’s status ahead of Sunday’s matchup remains unclear for the reeling Ravens.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters he has “no shareable injury intelligence” when asked about Jackson playing.

Baltimore has fallen to a paltry 1-5 record this season, their sole win coming against the Cleveland Browns in Week 2.

The Ravens’ offense has completely stalled behind backup QB Cooper Rush, getting outscored 61-13 in losses to the Texans and Rams.

Through his first four games of the season, Jackson completed 68 of 95 passes for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns — in addition to 166 yards on the ground with a rushing score — before his third-quarter exit against Kansas City.
