Authorities in a Chicago suburb are currently investigating serious allegations of sexual assault and abuse that reportedly occurred at the University of Chicago hospital located in Harvey. These incidents may also involve victims from several other medical facilities in the area.
The Harvey Police Department has released a statement identifying an “individual of interest” in this case. This person is described as a white male, aged between 37 and 40, with short black hair, brown eyes, and a connected mustache and beard. The initial allegations are centered around the University of Chicago Ingalls Memorial Hospital.
Police are actively seeking to identify any additional victims or witnesses who may be related to this case. They believe the person of interest might currently, or in the past, have held a position within this hospital or similar medical institutions. It is suspected that he has experience in healthcare settings where he interacted with patients and was involved in medical operations.
Further details from WMAQ suggest that a spokesperson from the City of Harvey has identified the person of interest as a physician’s assistant. According to this source, there are currently three known victims: two patients and one hospital employee.
WMAQ went further, though saying a City of Harvey spokesperson identified the person of interest as a physician’s assistant and said there are currently three victims, two patients and one an employee of the hospital.
According to WFLD, the person of interest is wanted for questioning, but it wasn’t clear if he had been identified. The station said the first report was filed by a patient who was receiving treatment in the emergency department in June 2024. She said the man identified himself as a physician’s assistant, touched her inappropriately, and made inappropriate comments.
A second report came the following month from a staff member who described a similar incident involving a man with the same description.
It’s not clear why police are only now seeking information.
The hospital said in a statement it was aware of the investigation but declined further comment, saying on that it “will continue to cooperate with Harvey police.”
