SAVANNAH, Ga. — On Thursday morning, high school students from Savannah High School took on the role of mentors, guiding elementary students through the complexities of peer pressure and the importance of making healthy life choices.

A group of sixteen teenagers from Savannah High School, all participants in the Positive Peer Influencer (PPI) Program in Action, visited Hubert Middle School. Their mission was to educate the younger students on a variety of crucial topics, with a particular focus on the risks associated with fentanyl.

The Positive Peer Influencer program, now in its third successful year, is a collaborative effort involving the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS), The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire, and the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team.

This year, the initiative includes around 280 trained Positive Peer Influencers drawn from 10 high schools. These students are actively engaged with peers across 12 middle schools in Chatham County, fostering a supportive and informative environment.
