Three men allegedly part of a “kill crew” sent to kill an organised criminal network member have been charged with kidnapping and murdering his wife in south-west Sydney.

On the night of April 17, a distressing incident unfolded in Bankstown, leaving the local community in shock. At approximately 10:30 p.m., 45-year-old Thi Kim Tran was at her residence when a group of individuals allegedly invaded her home, brandishing a firearm. The intruders are reported to have brutally assaulted an eight-year-old boy present at the scene with a baseball bat, resulting in the child falling into a coma.

The terrifying ordeal did not end there. The aggressors reportedly forced Tran to strip naked on the street before coercing her into an SUV, further amplifying the horror of the situation. A 15-year-old boy who was also in the home at the time was subsequently taken to the hospital for assessment, highlighting the widespread impact of the attack.

Approximately an hour after the home invasion, authorities discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames on Welfare Avenue in the nearby suburb of Beverly Hills. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, but unfortunately, the car was completely destroyed. Inside the charred vehicle, police made the grim discovery of Tran’s body, marking a tragic conclusion to the night’s events.

About an hour later, a car was found burning on Welfare Avenue in nearby Beverly Hills.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze, but the car was destroyed and police found Tran dead inside.

Police allege the woman was likely targeted due to her husband’s involvement with a Victoria-based organised criminal network.

Nguyen is not alleged to have killed Tran himself, but to have brought the three men who allegedly did to her home and facilitated it.

Strike Force Bushfield detectives yesterday arrested three men, aged 32, 20 and 21, allegedly part of a “kill crew” tasked with finding and killing Ms Tran’s husband.

Police claim the men murdered Tran when they couldn’t find her husband.

They were charged with murder, conspiring to murder, wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, kidnapping in company and participating in a criminal group.

No details were provided about when they would face court.
