A recent video captures Britney Spears exhibiting erratic driving behavior following an evening out with a friend. Reports suggest the pop icon is struggling with emotional turmoil over Kevin Federline’s forthcoming tell-all book.
Footage shared by the Daily Mail on Thursday shows the “Toxic” singer departing from the Thousand Oaks eatery, Red-O. After several people seemingly tried to dissuade her, Spears got behind the wheel of her black BMW and drove away.
An eyewitness recounted to the publication that as Spears exited the parking area, she almost hit her friend with the vehicle.
The video depicts the 43-year-old swerving into opposing traffic lanes, including a bike path, on her journey back to her residence in Thousand Oaks.
In another part of the clip, Spears can be seen closely following another car, adding to the concerning scene.
When the Grammy winner reached a stoplight, she was also seen putting something into her mouth.
One source told the outlet that Spears was stuck outside the gate of her home trying to get in for about 20 minutes.
“She would key it in and drive up to the gate, but the gate would not open,” the insider alleged. “She did this three or four times. The friend never left her car. After 20 minutes, the friend [left].
“Brit then spent another 10 minutes trying to get in and finally succeeded.”
A source told the outlet her outing comes as Federline’s memoir is “putting Britney in a tailspin. She’s spiraling. It’s reopening old wounds.”
The source added, it’s been “rough” for her with everything being back in the news.
“She’s acting out. She gets into these spirals and it just goes downhill fast,” the source said.
Reps for Spears weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
The “Gimme More” singer’s night out comes after Federline, 47, released his “You Thought You Knew” memoir on Oct. 20.
The former dancer made several damning allegations about the hitmaker, with whom he was married from 2004 to 2007 and shares sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James.
In a few of the allegations, Federline claimed that their sons woke up to Spears watching them sleep while holding a knife, and that she did cocaine while breastfeeding them.
He also warned that the pop star’s “erratic behavior” is worse than what is seen on the surface.
Spears, however, slammed Federline, calling out his “constant gaslighting” and “hurtful” allegations.
“Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here,” she wrote via X.
She also commented on her relationship with her boys, adding, “I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids of my mental health and drinking.”
A rep for the singer also blasted Federline for continuing to profit off her, noting the book came after child support payments ended.
