The New York Knicks have sent a cease-and-desist notice to Zohran Mamdani, a socialist candidate for NYC mayor, after he utilized their famous logo in a campaign ad. The team emphasized that they “do not endorse Mr. Mamdani for Mayor.”

This advertisement, broadcast during the Knicks’ season opener on Wednesday, showcased a modified version of the team’s orange and blue logo, swapping out “Knicks” for “Zohran.”

The cease-and-desist letter, reviewed by The Post, argues that Mamdani’s ad could “mislead the public into believing that the Campaign is affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by, or in some way connected with the Knicks.”

In response, the team has insisted that the candidate remove any use of the Knicks’ branding from his campaign and promotional materials.

“The NY Knicks have issued a cease-and-desist to NYC Mayoral hopeful Zohran Mamdani for employing their logo in his campaign promotions,” a team spokesperson confirmed to The Post.

“The Knicks want to make it clear that we do not endorse Mr. Mamdani for Mayor, and we object to his use of our copyrighted logo. We will pursue all legal remedies to enforce our rights.”

Mamdani also shared the advertisement on his social media platforms with the caption “This is our year. This is our time.”
