In Lubbock, Texas, a woman has been taken into custody after confessing to embezzling more than $30,000 from her workplace. Authorities arrested 55-year-old Mashell Badley on Tuesday in connection with the theft.

According to an affidavit reviewed by local affiliate KLBK, the Lubbock Crime Suppression Unit was called to Adobe Auto Sales, located at 1606 50th Street, following reports of employee theft. Business owners informed officers that Badley had misappropriated a significant sum over the span of a few months.

During questioning, Badley admitted to stealing $23,000 from company accounts over the last two months. She explained that financial difficulties following her relocation to Lubbock prompted her actions. Badley revealed that she used the stolen funds to pay bills and to send gifts to “friends and family on TikTok,” as detailed in the affidavit.

Further investigation by Lubbock police uncovered transactions and evidence confirming Badley’s misappropriation of over $30,000 from her employer.

She was then transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center and has since bonded out.

KLBK also reported in July that former Adobe Auto Sales manager Joshua Weston, 41, was charged with Criminal Mischief, Theft and Embezzlement after stealing over $200,000 from the company.
