A Lyft driver in Florida found himself in legal trouble after allegedly discharging a firearm at his passengers, leading to his arrest on Wednesday.
According to WRBW, dramatic aerial footage from an Orange County police helicopter captured a tense scene where two brothers were seen on a front porch. One brother lay injured with gunshot wounds to his foot and stomach. Meanwhile, officers in the helicopter observed a man identified as Rolando Rivera-Casillas standing by a vehicle, hands placed on the hood, with a gun visibly positioned on top.
Authorities quickly detained Rivera-Casillas, who, according to the injured brother, had engaged in a heated argument with him and his sibling. The dispute reportedly arose when the brothers accidentally slammed the car doors, angering the driver.
Witnesses claim that Rivera-Casillas forcibly removed the brothers from his vehicle, issuing threats to shoot them. Surveillance footage reviewed by WRBW allegedly captures the moment he fired approximately five shots as the brothers attempted to escape on foot.
Rolando Rivera-Casillas now faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and remains incarcerated without the possibility of bail. In response to the incident, Lyft informed WESH of Rivera-Casillas’s immediate termination from their service.
