CHICAGO (WGN) On a seemingly ordinary Thursday morning, two Chicago students found themselves in a distressing encounter with federal agents en route to school. The incident unfolded as they passed through the Little Village neighborhood, where a protest was taking place.

These students, caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, chose to pause their commute to observe the unfolding protest. The demonstration was a response to actions by federal agents in the community, and the students’ curiosity led them into a situation far more intense than anticipated.

“These young individuals were simply on their way to school when they witnessed a scene that must have been terrifying—masked agents descending on their neighborhood,” remarked Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez of the 25th Ward. “Regrettably, they were detained, and one of the students even suffered injuries, evident by the blood on his face,” he added.
