Women of Worth and Wisdom creates sisterhood through community service

Six years ago in Savannah, Georgia, a small circle of women gathered at an Applebee’s in Pooler with a singular vision: to establish something meaningful that embodies love, service, and personal growth.

This gathering marked the inception of Women of Worth and Wisdom.

The inspiration for this initiative struck Raven Pridgen-Williams after years of quietly supporting those around her—whether by distributing food to the hungry or keeping a spare jacket in her car for someone in need. Raven aspired to create something beyond herself, a platform where women could support each other while also giving back to their communities.

Since its founding, the group has expanded its reach, orchestrating a variety of events to fulfill their mission. These initiatives range from shoe donation drives and preparing meals for veterans to advocating for HIV/AIDS awareness and fostering community fellowship.

“We formulated our mission to be about promoting sisterhood and empowering all women through community service,” Raven explained. “Each month, we’re either hosting a community service event or engaging in a sisterhood exploration program.”

Raven says one of their most beloved events is “Adopt-a-Teacher,” where members of Women of Worth and Wisdom collect school supplies and gift personalized baskets to teachers across Chatham, Liberty, Effingham and Bulloch counties.

But while community service is the group’s foundation, sisterhood is its heartbeat. Raven says the bond in Women of Worth and Wisdom is unlike anything she’s ever seen before.

“We are friends. Literally friends,” she said. “When we say sisterhood, it really is what it is. A sisterhood. Bonds are like… it’s like a forever bond.”

For Raven, Women of Worth and Wisdom is more than a group; it is a reflection of purpose and healing. She says the name itself came from her own search for value after personal struggles and says she realized that to find her worth, she also needed to have wisdom—something she found both through the women around her.
