SEATTLE, Wash. (WCIA) — The Illini faced a tough evening in Seattle as they succumbed to a 42-25 defeat against Washington, a game marked by their defensive struggles and costly turnovers. This setback drops Illinois to a 5-3 record for the season.

Washington showcased a formidable offense, amassing nearly 449 yards in total. Their efficiency was particularly evident as they converted 9 out of 12 third-down attempts and completed a striking 27 of 34 passes, accumulating 292 yards. Illinois mirrored this third-down conversion rate but still found themselves outpaced on the field.

Huskies quarterback Demond Williams Jr. was a standout performer, throwing four touchdown passes. Wide receiver Denzel Boston added to the tally with a touchdown pass of his own, further boosting Washington’s dominant offensive display.

On the Illini side, quarterback Luke Altmyer completed 22 of his 34 pass attempts, contributing 199 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also recorded two interceptions, marking his first game of the season with multiple turnovers.

In the receiving department, Hank Beatty emerged as a key player for Illinois, leading with 73 yards on six receptions. Tight end Cole Rusk also made a notable impact, adding 56 yards from four catches.

The Illini return home to face Rutgers next week. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. from Gies Memorial Stadium, broadcast on NBC.
