Travis Scott and Kanye West, also known as Ye, have a relationship that continues to captivate their fans. Their connection began in the early 2010s, with Scott, then an emerging producer and rapper, drawing significant influence from West’s groundbreaking approach to hip-hop. Over the years, the duo has joined forces on various tracks, with West featuring Scott on albums such as Yeezus and The Life of Pablo. Scott has often acknowledged West as a key influence on his own genre-defying music style. Recently, Scott hinted at wanting to partner with West again, expressing his desire to create “something special” with the iconic rapper.

Travis Scott gave Kanye ‘Ye’ West a shoutout during his concert

The relationship between Travis Scott and Kanye West has grown from mentorship to collaboration over the years. Their professional journey kicked off in 2012 when Scott inked a publishing deal with West’s GOOD Music label. Scott’s contributions to West’s 2012 compilation album, Cruel Summer, showcased his adept production skills and firmly established him within West’s creative orbit. This partnership paved the way for further collaborations, including Scott’s involvement in West’s 2013 album Yeezus, where he played a crucial role in producing tracks like “New Slang” and “Guilt Trip,” as reported by Rap-Up.

Beyond their musical synergy, Scott frequently refers to West as a mentor, and the two are connected through their family ties. Scott shares two children, Stormi and Aire Webster, with Kylie Jenner, while West has four children—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—with Kim Kardashian. Currently, neither West nor Scott is in a romantic relationship or married to anyone within the Kardashian-Jenner clan.

In a recent nod to their enduring bond, Scott gave West a notable shoutout during a performance of “God’s Country,” as reported by Hot 100.9. This gesture underscores Scott’s unwavering support for West, regardless of how the media may portray him.

“Aye, shout out to my brother Ye,” Scott declared. “I ain’t gon’ lie, man, we might have to do something special soon.”

The two rappers have had issues in the past

Travis Scott just proved that his friendship with Kanye “Ye” West remains strong despite having issues with each other in the past. Earlier in 2025, West accused Scott of removing his contributions to past recordings, according to The Express Tribune. West discussed this while in conversation with DJ Akademiks and also took to social media to air his grievances. Following this, Scott unfollowed West on Instagram in February 2025.

While speaking to Complex, Scott dispelled the idea of a rift between himself and West, commenting on their family ties.

“Sh*t, man. That’s my kid’s uncle,” Scott said. “That guy took me in when I was young, when I was like 19. He taught me a lot about music. And not even just ‘taught’ me, but he allowed me to experience the creation of music.”

Even earlier, the two rappers reportedly had beef in 2018. West accused Scott of allowing Drake to “sneak diss” him on “Sicko Mode,” according to People. But West later showed his support for Scott by attending one of the “Astroworld” tour shows.

Kanye ‘Ye’ West rejects the idea of Travis Scott being his ‘family’

Travis Scott may think of Kanye “Ye” West as a close family member, but West may feel differently. According to Vibe, West didn’t take too kindly to Scott’s Complex interview.

“I read something about Trav commenting on my comments, and I’m just like, bro, all this idea of uncle and brother? This ain’t no actual family,” West said.

“There’s no men who have footing in the situation,” he continued. “We don’t come together and actually have any control of our kids. It’s like, we so concerned about being in the industry, that we let our kids get indoctrinated to the industry.”

West then brought up how he was removed from Scott’s song, “Telekinesis,” which Future is featured on, proving that old feuds may never die.
