RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office mourns the loss of former Sergeant Mike Logue, who bravely faced cancer after retiring earlier in 2023. Sergeant Logue devoted nearly four decades to serving the Augusta-Richmond County community with unwavering professionalism and integrity.

Starting his remarkable career with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on June 15, 1984, Sergeant Logue ascended to the rank of Sergeant by August 12, 1990. His tenure was marked by exemplary leadership, genuine compassion, and an unyielding dedication to public service.

In April 2014, Sergeant Logue was recognized with the Medal of Valor for his heroic conduct during a critical incident involving an armed suspect who had just wounded a deputy. His swift and decisive actions under perilous circumstances averted further danger, showcasing the valor and commitment emblematic of law enforcement.

“Sergeant Logue served our community with heart, courage, and humility,” expressed Sheriff Gino Brantley. “He set a standard through his exemplary conduct and embodied the highest values of our profession. We are thankful for his many years of service and the indelible impact he left on both the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and our community.”

Sergeant Logue will be fondly remembered by many for his friendly demeanor and warm greetings during his special duty assignments across Augusta-Richmond County, notably at Windsor Jewelers. His legacy extends beyond his professional achievements; he was deeply admired for his kindness and respectful nature.

Sergeant Logue’s daughter, Jennifer, continues his legacy of service through her work with Richmond County 911 Dispatch, supporting deputies and first responders every day.

His passing comes as the Sheriff’s Office also remembered Deputy J.D. Paugh, who gave his life in the line of duty 14 years ago. These moments serve as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily and the enduring bonds of service that unite them.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Sergeant Logue. His service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9
