SAVANNAH, Ga. – The region is experiencing some much-needed rainfall today, as light to moderate showers are expected to continue throughout the day. There might also be a few instances of thunder. The weather will remain cool and breezy, with temperatures reaching the upper 60s to low 70s and wind gusts potentially hitting up to 30 mph. Due to the persistent cloud cover and rain, the temperatures at night will be mild, ranging from the upper 50s to low 60s.

As we look to tomorrow, the rain is anticipated to diminish as the weather system moves off the coast. However, the sky will stay predominantly cloudy, maintaining a cool and breezy atmosphere with temperatures only climbing to the mid-60s. This weather pattern is expected to persist into Wednesday, with highs ranging from the mid to upper 60s.

On Thursday, a new cold front is on the horizon, bringing the possibility of isolated showers and further dropping the temperatures, keeping highs in the mid-60s. After this front moves through, skies will start to clear just in time for Halloween festivities.

By Friday, the sun will make a comeback, although it will still be a cool day for those heading out for trick-or-treating. Daytime highs will be in the mid to upper 60s, while nighttime lows will fall into the lower 40s. It’s advisable to add an extra layer under those costumes to stay warm during the evening chill!

Hurricane Melissa is expected to make landfall in Jamaica tonight as a major Category 4 or 5 hurricane, bringing catastrophic, life-threatening flooding, landslides, and destructive winds through tonight into tomorrow morning.

After passing over Jamaica, Melissa is forecast to weaken slightly but remain a major hurricane as it moves toward Cuba and the Bahamas. The good news for the U.S. is that Thursday’s cold front will help steer Melissa away from the East Coast and toward Bermuda, keeping it no threat to the U.S. at this time.
