A kitten’s life was saved by the swift actions of firefighters in a suburb of Chicago, Orland Park, Illinois, after a blaze erupted in a residential building early Saturday morning.

The Orland Fire Protection District responded promptly to an emergency call reporting smoke emanating from an apartment building’s eaves on the north side. Upon arrival, the firefighters traced the source of the smoke to an apartment situated at the northwest corner of the building.

The fire had already inflicted considerable damage, particularly to the kitchen area, before the firefighters managed to control and extinguish it. Fortunately, no residents were harmed during the incident.
