In his regular press briefing, Head Coach Liam Coen dismissed any speculation about trading Brian Thomas Jr.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — During Monday’s press conference, Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Liam Coen addressed and dismissed trade rumors concerning wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., making it clear that the team intends to keep the promising second-year player.

“Brian Thomas Jr. is not going anywhere,” Coen stated firmly. “I noticed some speculation over the weekend, but I spoke with him at length this morning. It was a great opportunity for everyone to regroup as we focus on the rest of the season with a 4-3 record,” Coen added.

Last season, Thomas quickly established himself as a rising talent in the NFL, securing over 1,200 yards and 10 touchdowns, ranking third among receivers. However, his sophomore year has presented challenges. In seven games, Thomas has led the NFL in dropped passes with nine, struggling with both consistency and the Jaguars’ misfiring passing game.

The introduction of rookie Travis Hunter to the lineup has further complicated Jacksonville’s offensive flow. Despite these issues, Coen remains optimistic about Thomas’s potential and believes the offense will find its stride.

“Regardless, good, bad, or indifferent, what’s happened in the first seven games we all have an opportunity to write a narrative,” Coen said. “We own the narrative, and I’ve got a lot of confidence in them. I really do believe we can turn the corner and get better in the pass game that way.”

Given Thomas’ age, contract, and upside, a trade remains highly unlikely as Jacksonville looks to strengthen its offense heading into the second half of the season.
