FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WFRV) – A remarkable milestone was reached by a Fond du Lac resident, Audrey Martin, who recently celebrated her 107th birthday. Born on October 24, 1918, Audrey’s life began on a family farm nestled in rural Calumet County. Her early years were marked by a passion for dance, as she performed with a traveling troupe alongside her family members.

Audrey’s ventures in life extended beyond dance. She co-owned ‘Club Luco,’ a business that later transformed into the well-known ‘Copper Kettle Tavern.’ Her career also included a role as a probation officer, showcasing her diverse interests and capabilities. Throughout her lifetime, Audrey has remained deeply rooted in Northeast Wisconsin, a place she has always called home.

During a recent birthday celebration held in Fond du Lac, Audrey was asked by Local 5 News to share the most significant lesson she has learned throughout her long life. Her response was characteristically straightforward, embodying the wisdom she has gathered over more than a century.

At her birthday party in Fond du Lac on Sunday, Local 5 News asked her what the most important life lesson she’s learned over the years. Her answer was simple.

“You always be nice to people,” Martin said.

Dozens of friends and family members attended Martin’s 107th birthday party on Sunday. She said it meant a lot to her that everybody wanted to help celebrate her birthday.

Those who spoke with Local 5 News said that Martin is family-oriented, kind to everyone, and makes a profound impact on the people she meets.

“Always the nicest lady, and she would do everything to help out with everything,” said Jimmy Kebble, who is Martin’s great-grandson. “Huge family, great family to be in. A lot of love.”

Martin has four children, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great, great-grandchild. Many of them were at the birthday party on Sunday, reflecting on what they’ve learned from her over the years.

“Definitely to cherish your family, cherish where you are from, live life to the fullest, and do what makes you happy,” Kebble said.

Her family tells Local 5 News that she’s also a huge Packers fan and has owned season tickets since 1958.
