Shark feeding frenzy off popular surfing beach

Incredible footage has emerged capturing a dramatic shark feeding frenzy off a popular surfing beach on the Gold Coast.

A swarm of these formidable predators was drawn by a bait ball—a dense cluster of fish forming a defensive shape—just a few meters from the shore at Snapper Rocks, a renowned surfing spot.

Captured on social media, the video shows sharks vigorously thrashing through the water as they pursued their prey.

Typically, hundreds of surfers would be riding the waves at Snapper Rocks. However, the sight of the sharks combined with gloomy weather conditions kept most visitors on the beach, observing from a safe distance.

Only one thrill-seeker dared to paddle out, leaving the crowd both surprised and captivated.

“Oh my god, the guy heading out. I wouldn’t be swimming there today,” one said.

Some fishers also tried their luck by dropping their lines in the water near the bait ball.

The large groups of fish clustering together are fairly common along the east coast of Australia, and because they attract sharks, they trigger beach closures.
