Germany’s upcoming home kit for the 2026 World Cup has made its way onto the internet, stirring excitement with its homage to a cherished classic. The newly leaked design, showcased by Footy Headlines, reveals adidas’s commitment to nostalgia, drawing a clear line to the kit donned by West Germany during their triumphant 1990 World Cup campaign.

The design stays true to tradition with its predominantly white fabric, complemented by the iconic black adidas stripes on the shoulders and intricate red-and-black trims at the cuffs. The centerpiece of this homage is a bold, flag-inspired motif: a series of black, red, and yellow stripes elegantly cascade diagonally from each shoulder, converging into a striking V-shaped diamond pattern on the chest.

This design choice is a deliberate salute to the original 1990 World Cup kit, famous for its off-center stripe arrangement. However, this modern iteration opts for a central alignment, giving it a fresh yet nostalgically familiar appeal.

It’s an unmistakable nod to the 1990 World Cup-winning shirt, which carried a similar design – though that version placed the stripes off-centre.

Other details include the four stars above the DFB crest, each printed with the years of Germany’s triumphs – 1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014 – plus black shorts and white socks to complete the set.

A nostalgic throwback to one of football’s most iconic shirts, the design is expected to go down well with fans – who will be hoping Die Mannschaft can channel the spirit of 1990 in North America next summer.
