The Australian Federal Police (AFP), collaborating with both national and international law enforcement bodies, have effectuated a series of arrests, comprising nine on the international front and three within Australia. The individuals apprehended domestically are aged between 17 and 20 years.
These young women often grapple with issues like low self-esteem, mental health struggles, and have histories marked by self-harm, she explained.
In a particularly disturbing case, one suspect stands accused of committing egregious acts, allegedly purchasing infants of Malaysian and Indonesian descent for the purpose of sexual exploitation, she reported.
She expressed profound concern over the reality that viewing such abhorrent material is part of anyone’s professional responsibilities, describing it as a tragedy.
Speaking to SBS News, she articulated her leadership vision, emphasizing a commitment to fostering social cohesion and aggressively targeting both state and non-state actors that aim to instill fear within the Australian community.
“It is an absolute tragedy that viewing this material is in someone’s job description, in anyone’s job,” she said.
