In a significant move for U.S. manufacturing, President Trump has unveiled that South Korea will be constructing its nuclear-powered submarine at the Philadelphia Shipyards. This development is a component of the latest trade agreement between the United States and South Korea.

“South Korea will be building its Nuclear Powered Submarine in the Philadelphia Shipyards, right here in the good ol’ U.S.A. Shipbuilding in our Country will soon be making a BIG COMEBACK,” Trump stated, expressing optimism about the resurgence of the U.S. shipbuilding industry.

This announcement is expected to be a boon for the U.S. manufacturing sector, aligning with the president’s commitment to revitalizing domestic production and job creation. The decision marks a pivotal step in reinvigorating American shipyards and enhancing economic collaboration between the two nations.

Earlier in the week, Trump made waves during his visit to a U.S. naval base in Japan by encouraging U.S. troops to consider purchasing vehicles from Toyota, citing the Japanese automaker’s plans to expand its manufacturing footprint within the United States.

In a related development, as part of efforts to ease trade tensions, the Japanese government has considered buying Ford F-150 trucks. Trump, addressing reporters aboard Air Force One, lauded this initiative as a positive gesture towards strengthening trade relations.

On Wednesday, Trump announced that the U.S. and South Korea reached a trade deal in which South Korea would pay the U.S. $350 billion in exchange for lower tariffs. The president also said South Korea agreed to purchase U.S. oil and gas in “vast quantities.” Trump said South Korea agreed to investments in the US by South Korean companies and businessmen that will exceed $600 billion.

The president is set to wrap up his trip to Asia on Thursday where he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in an effort to reach a trade deal.
