Staff Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old man, Charnavis Arkeem Queen, was taken into custody on October 22, following allegations of hurling a car jack through the windshield of a car with occupants inside.

According to a report from a Gainesville Police Department officer, the incident occurred around 5:20 a.m. on October 19. The victim was leaving the scene after a dispute with Queen when Queen allegedly launched a car jack at the vehicle’s windshield, inflicting approximately $700 worth of damage.

The officer noted the car jack remained lodged in the windshield. Queen was not located immediately after the event, prompting the issuance of an arrest warrant on October 21. He was subsequently apprehended the following day.

Queen faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief. His criminal history includes one felony conviction for violence and three misdemeanor convictions, two of which are violent. Additionally, he is under a 2020 sworn complaint for domestic battery. Queen has previously served a state prison term for attempted felony murder, gaining release in 2022. Judge Adam Lee has ordered him to be held without bail as a motion from the State Attorney’s office seeks to keep him in custody until trial. Should this motion be denied, bail will be determined at a subsequent hearing.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
