A Connecticut woman, aged 65, has been detained following a shocking incident where she allegedly shot a man while he was watching a movie with a 12-year-old boy. The accused, Michelle Yeagher, faces multiple charges including murder, carrying a dangerous weapon, risk of injury to a child, and reckless endangerment, as reported by WFSB.

The tragic event unfolded late Monday night, when Andrew Olson and the young boy were simply enjoying a film. According to an arrest warrant, Yeagher, appearing to be intoxicated, claimed that the man “tried to kill me,” prompting her to shoot him. She repeated this assertion multiple times to the officers who responded to the scene shortly before midnight.

Upon arrival, law enforcement found Yeagher in a disheveled state, naked from the waist down, and unable to specify the location of the firearm used in the incident. The startling details of the case were further corroborated by WVIT.

An arrest warrant says that Yeagher told police the man “tried to kill me” so she shot him. She made the statements several times when officers arrived on scene shortly before midnight on Monday. The officers noted that she was naked from the waist down and appeared intoxicated.

They found her in bed when they arrived, according to WVIT, and she couldn’t say where the gun used in the shooting was.

Police identified the victim as 39-year-old Andrew Michael Olson.

The 12-year-old told police that he and Olson were watching the movie “Toy Story” when Yeagher came in and opened fire, shooting Olson in the chest.

During another interview Tuesday morning, Yeagher told officers she was upset from dealing with several issues during the day and started drinking later that night. Olson and the child came over, she said, and she went to bed.

Later, she woke in a state of panic and retrieved her gun from a safe. The next thing she remembered was hearing Olson “in distress” and seeing him on the floor hurt.

Yeagher was ordered held on a $1 million bond and is due in court next on December 11.

Investigators have not described the relationship between Olson, Yeagher, and the young boy.
