In a tragic turn of events, Jamar Champ, husband of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Masika Kalysha, has died at the age of 38 following a disastrous wrong-way crash in Houston, Texas.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident unfolded shortly after midnight on Tuesday, October 28. A silver BMW, driving against traffic on the Katy Freeway, collided with Champ’s Tesla Cybertruck. This impact subsequently forced Champ’s vehicle into an 18-wheeler truck. While the BMW driver was declared dead at the scene, Champ was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the truck driver emerged unscathed.

Authorities confirmed to KHOU 11 that Champ was the driver of the Cybertruck involved in the collision.

Grieving the loss of her husband, Kalysha took to Instagram to share a heartfelt montage of their cherished moments together.

“I’m so mad at the driver that took your life,” she expressed. “I’ve never felt this much anger and pain and confusion all at once. All you wanted was your baby and to be a Godly family man. We found out about @amarihermes on his 35th birthday. I was 4.5 months pregnant and had no idea. @1of1champ4x smiled from ear to ear my entire pregnancy. No matter what you go through with a person, you never want this. You always think you have more time.”

Champ and Kalysha got married in 2021. The pair share a three-year-old daughter, Amari, in addition to the daughter Kalysha shares with rapper Fetty Wap.

However, she shared that they were separated in a video addressing rumors on social media, and later claimed they were “going through mediation” in 2024. “Just know that your girl is happier than she’s ever been,” she said at the time. “There is absolutely nothing worse than being with a narcissist. First and last experience with a narcissist ever.”

But in a letter shared on Instagram, Kalysha described herself as his “forever wife.”

“I can’t believe I’m writing this message to you,” she wrote. “Although you’re physically no longer here, I know you’re with the Lord. I pray that you know how much me and the girls love you, and just how deeply we needed you. I want you to know how much I appreciate you.”

The statement later continues, “Thank you Jamar for everything you have done and everything you have been to us. I know that you did your best. I’m honored to carry your last name. I will honor your memory. You will live on through our beautiful baby. God made her your twin for a reason. To the only man who I’ve ever called husband, I will cherish the good times.”
