DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. () – Authorities have apprehended two 20-year-olds from Douglas County, accusing them of child abuse after distressing injuries were found on their 5-month-old baby.
The case unfolded on August 24th when the infant was taken to the emergency room. Medical professionals discovered over 30 fractures at various healing stages, which immediately triggered a police investigation due to the grave nature of the injuries.
Following the investigation, William King and Amber Rivera, both aged 20, were taken into custody and charged with the alleged abuse.
- The infant had spent the first four months of life in a NICU facility and had only been in the custody of the parents for approximately six weeks.
- Interviews with pediatricians, family members, and witnesses led investigators to conclude that both parents were responsible for the injuries.
- Medical professionals indicated that the injuries were consistent with prolonged and repeated abuse.
During their bond hearing before Magistrate Judge Susan Camp, both individuals were denied bond, remaining in custody as the legal process continues.

The defendants are charged with the following offenses under Georgia law:
- Aggravated Battery
- Conspiracy to Commit a Felony
- Cruelty to Children – 1st Degree
- Cruelty to Children – 2nd Degree
- Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder
- Obstruction
