A tragic incident unfolded at an Anheuser-Busch facility on Jacksonville’s Northside, resulting in the arrest of 38-year-old Jason Guthrie. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office disclosed on Friday morning that Guthrie is now facing a charge of second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of a coworker.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Antoine Autry, was reportedly involved in a dispute with Guthrie on what was their first day working as contractors at the plant. This argument tragically escalated, leading to the stabbing.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office swiftly intervened after the Thursday afternoon incident, piecing together the sequence of events that led to this grave outcome. Their investigation revealed the unfortunate circumstances between the two men who had only just begun their roles at the facility.

As the community comes to terms with this shocking event, the legal proceedings against Guthrie begin, casting a somber shadow over what was meant to be a routine day at work.

JSO said Thursday was Autry and Guthrie’s first day working at the plant as contractors. The two had gotten into an argument before the stabbing, JSO said.

When officers arrived at the facility, JSO said Autry was found with a stab wound to his chest. Members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then rushed Autry to UF Health where he died.

JSO said witnesses reported hearing Autry screaming and saw Guthrie running from him.

“Our K9 Unit quickly found Guthrie hiding inside one of the buildings on the plant and detectives took him into custody,” JSO said in a Facebook post. “After our detectives interviewed Guthrie, we arrested him for Autry’s murder. He is behind bars in the Duval County jail.”

An Anheuser-Busch spokesperson shared with First Coast News the following statement regarding the incident:

“Yesterday we were made aware of an incident involving two outside contractors at our Jacksonville Brewery; we immediately engaged with local law enforcement to ensure the security of our people and the facility and continue to cooperate with them to support the investigation.”
