Alison Hammond found herself in a bit of a bind during the “Patisserie Week” episode of The Great British Baking Show. In an attempt to inject humor into the show, the charismatic host tried to clamber over a fence during a comedic sketch but ended up stuck, risking an unintentional wardrobe malfunction. Co-host Noel Fielding quickly jumped to her aid, positioning himself strategically to shield her from the cameras and help her disentangle from the predicament. This light-hearted incident is just one of the many amusing moments Alison has brought to the popular baking competition on Netflix.
**Spoilers Ahead for The Great British Baking Show “Patisserie Week,” Now Available on Netflix**
“Patisserie Week” is renowned for being one of the most nerve-wracking segments of any Great British Baking Show season, as it serves both as a rigorous challenge and the last hurdle before the grand finale. Amidst the palpable tension, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding took it upon themselves to lift spirits in the baking tent with their humor and antics.
This particular week, the duo visited Toby Littlewood’s station during the high-stakes Showstopper Challenge to offer some light relief. They admired his intricate macaron display spelling out “LEMONS.” Despite Toby’s struggles in the previous rounds, Noel playfully commented that Toby was not one to back down easily, adding, “He likes to fight.”
Alison echoed Noel’s sentiment with a playful suggestion, “He likes to fight. Should we have a fight?”
Alison then laughed and put Noel in a playful chokehold.
“Yeah, but it’s not me who likes to fight,” Noel said, laughing and resisting. “Get off me!”
Alison let Noel go and embraced him. She then asked Toby, with a shrug and a giggle, “Anything we can do to help?”
“Exit, I think,” Toby said.
Alison and Noel stepped back slightly and she asked, “What if we just hang out here?”
“Further,” Toby said. “You need to hop the fence.”
The camera then cut straight to Alison attempting to jump over the fence with the same effortless ease eliminated baker Iain Ross displayed weeks back. She failed. Miserably.
Stuck straddling the white picket fence — while wearing a dress — a wheezing Alison cried out for Noel. “Cover me up! Come here! Stand there!”
A laughing Noel stood in front of Alison, shielding her with his wide-spread arms from the voyeuristic gaze of the camera. (Sort of.) (The camera guy still managed to get a shot of Alison climbing over the fence.)
Finally free, Alison stood a few feet away from the fence and asked Toby, “Here?”
Toby was satisfied. “Naw, that’s alright to be fair,” he said.
In the end, Toby’s Showstopper was a success, but it wasn’t good enough to save him from elimination this week. That’s because, as Paul Hollywood pointed out, Toby’s Technical Challenge bake was an absolute disaster.
So did Alison manage to help Toby out with his bake? No, I don’t think so.
Did she offer us yet another zany moment in the Bake Off tent, though? That, she certainly did.
