David Harbour accused of bullying Millie Bobby Brown on 'Stranger Things' set ahead of final season

Is there turmoil brewing in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana? Reports indicate potential unrest as the much-anticipated finale of Stranger Things approaches. David Harbour, at the age of 50, is at the center of a Netflix investigation concerning allegations of bullying and harassment directed at the show’s standout star, Millie Bobby Brown, now 21.

This internal inquiry emerges just as the production of the series’ eighth and final season—a colossal $400 million endeavor by Netflix—gets underway. According to a report by The Mail on Sunday, Brown lodged a “harassment and bullying claim” prior to the commencement of filming in January 2024. Importantly, the report clarifies that the allegations do not involve any claims of sexual misconduct.

“There were pages and pages of accusations,” a source revealed to The Mail, emphasizing the extensive nature of the investigation, which spanned several months.

Harbour, who embodies the character of Jim Hopper—an ex-police chief with a rugged demeanor who takes on a paternal role for Brown’s character, Eleven—shares a pivotal father-daughter dynamic that forms the emotional backbone of the series. This relationship, however, has reportedly been strained on set, prompting Brown to ensure the presence of her personal representative during the filming of the final season.

This development coincides with Harbour’s personal challenges, notably the dissolution of his marriage to British singer Lily Allen. Allen’s latest album, West End Girl, has been making waves on streaming platforms, stirring discussions with its raw portrayal of betrayal throughout their four-year union.

“Lily supported him throughout it all,” the Mail source said. “It was a brutal time.” The workplace allegations are not believed to be related to the marriage breakdown.

Brown, who skyrocketed to fame on Stranger Things, has since starred in Enola Holmes and Damsel. She married fellow actor Jake Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi, in 2024. The couple now live on a Georgia farm, run an animal sanctuary, and adopted a baby girl in August.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things has turned its ensemble cast—including Winona Ryder, Finn Wolfhard, Joe Keery, and Natalia Dyer—into household names. Season 4 drew a record-breaking 286 million viewing hours in its first three days.

The final season will premiere in three waves: the first four episodes drop on November 26, three more over Christmas, and the two-and-a-half-hour finale will release in theaters and on Netflix on New Year’s Eve.

Neither Netflix nor Harbour’s representatives responded to The Mail’s requests for comment.
