SAVANNAH, Ga. — As the weekend wraps up, residents should prepare for a few showers Sunday night, but a delightful week is on the horizon.

Sunday saw an increase in cloud cover, transitioning from a chilly morning to a comfortably mild afternoon. Overnight, a weak storm system accompanied by a trailing cold front is expected to pass through the region, bringing some changes.

With moisture accumulating ahead of the cold front, showers are likely to develop after sunset, reaching their peak between sunset and midnight. However, rainfall amounts are expected to be minimal, and the chance of rain will diminish by Monday morning.

Initially, the day will start with mostly cloudy skies, but sunshine will break through by the afternoon. Temperatures are anticipated to rise to the upper 60s and lower 70s, with a light northwest breeze of 10-15 mph. Throughout the week, high pressure will prevail, resulting in chilly mornings and mild to warm afternoons under clear skies.

Looking ahead, coastal flooding might become an issue midweek due to astronomical high tides. Although significant flooding isn’t forecasted, tides on Wednesday and Thursday may exceed the 9.5-foot benchmark at Fort Pulaski. This could lead to minor saltwater flooding in low-lying areas during the morning and evening high tides.

The next opportunity for rain chances may come next weekend as a cold front will move into the region. There is a lot of time to sort out exact details with this so enjoy the week!
