OSAGE COUNTY (KSNT) — In a cooperative effort, Kansas wildlife officials and local law enforcement joined forces to track down a missing hunter in Osage County.
On October 12, game wardens from Kansas received a call to aid in the search for a hunter who had gone missing in the Melvern Wildlife Area. Working alongside deputies from Osage County and other personnel from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP), they embarked on a mission to locate the overdue hunter.
According to Jesse Gehrt from KDWP, the hunter had set out early in the morning to pursue deer but failed to make his way back home. Growing anxious over his prolonged absence, the man’s family reached out to law enforcement for assistance in the afternoon.
