In the latest episode of “Boston Blue,” affection seems to be the theme for the Silver family, and Sarah Silver, played by Maggie Lawson, is no exception. Viewers are introduced to her boyfriend, Seth, portrayed by Mike Vogel. Seth is depicted as a caring single father who genuinely enjoys spending time with Sarah, even proposing that she moves in with him.

However, not everything is smooth sailing for Sarah. She faces a challenge in the form of Seth’s teenage daughter, Phoebe, played by Matia Jackett, who is far from fond of Sarah. Eager to win Phoebe over, Sarah finds herself in a tough spot when she catches Phoebe at a party where underage drinking is rampant. This incident leads to Phoebe being assigned community service. Despite the rocky start, the two manage to reconcile, and Sarah seems to be considering Seth’s invitation to move in with him and Phoebe.

If Seth’s face seems familiar, it might be due to Mike Vogel’s extensive acting career. Many may recall him as Johnny Foote, the charming husband of Jessica Chastain’s character Celia in “The Help.” Vogel also captured audiences as Jason in “Cloverfield” and played Cooper in Netflix’s “Sex/Life.” His diverse filmography spans both film and television from the early 2000s to the present.

Mike Vogel began his acting career in 2001, making a name for himself as Dean, Lily’s love interest, on the WB sitcom “Grounded for Life.” He stayed on the show for three seasons while simultaneously building his film credentials with roles in the 2003 remake of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Rumor Has It…,” and “Poseidon.” Intriguingly, he almost stepped into the shoes of James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” but narrowly lost out to Chris Pine.

Mike Vogel got his acting start all the way back in 2001, when he started playing Lily’s (Lynsey Bartilson) swain, Dean, on The WB sitcom “Grounded for Life.” The gig lasted for three seasons, and while he appeared on that show he continued to beef up his big screen experience by popping up in supporting roles in the 2003 version of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” “Rumor Has It…” and “Poseidon.” He was even up for the role of James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams’ rebooted “Star Trek” films, but lost the part to Chris Pine.

On the small screen, Vogel went on to show up as Dean in “Pan Am,” Zack Shelby in Season 1 of “Bates Motel,” Dale in “Under the Dome” and Adam in “The Brave” before taking on the role of Seth. Vogel’s also got an interesting project currently on his plate as of this writing; he’ll be playing Bill Boltz in Prime Video’s upcoming series “Scarpetta,” which features Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. That might be a bad sign for Sarah and Seth’s “Boston Blue” romance, but audiences will have to keep their eyes peeled to see what develops between the couple as Vogel’s ever-busy acting career moves along.
