In a tragic incident unfolding in Jacksonville’s Mandarin neighborhood, authorities discovered a man fatally shot within the confines of a residential garage late Monday evening. This grim update was reported by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to First Coast News in the early hours of Tuesday.
JSO Sergeant Kyle Matthews detailed that patrol officers were dispatched to a home located on the 11000 block of Rustic Green Court following reports of gunfire. The call was logged around 5:30 p.m., marking the start of their investigation into the deadly shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of a man, estimated to be in his 30s or 40s, suffering from gunshot wounds. The tragic discovery has prompted a thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding this unsettling event.
To aid in piecing together the sequence of events, two individuals present at the scene were escorted to the JSO headquarters for interviews, Sergeant Matthews confirmed. The investigation continues as authorities seek to understand what led to this fatal confrontation.
Two individuals were taken from the scene of the shooting to JSO’s headquarters to be interviewed, Matthews said.
“At this time, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated,” Matthews said.
When asked if the man lived at the home he was found shot at, Matthews said that’s part of what is being investigated.
