In a disturbing case that has come to light, a teenager from Louisiana, who had been reported missing, was discovered in the basement of a Pennsylvania home. This revelation comes from the Pittsburgh Special Victims Unit (SVU), a division working closely with an FBI task force to address such serious matters.

The arrest of 26-year-old Ki-Shawn Crumity on October 31 highlights the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies. The SVU agents acted on a tip from U.S. Marshals suggesting that the missing teen might be at a residence in Pittsburgh, leading them to the unsettling scene.

Upon investigation, authorities found the young girl concealed in a sheet-covered box within the basement of Crumity’s home. Although her exact age has not been disclosed, it is noted in the police records that Crumity is more than 11 years her senior.

The teenager recounted her experience to detectives, revealing that her interaction with Crumity began on Snapchat. He allegedly promised her assistance in being adopted by a “trusted adult.” Her journey took her to Washington, D.C., where she encountered another woman who offered help and accompanied her to Pittsburgh.

In a poignant moment at the hospital, the teen expressed to detectives that it was the safest she had ever felt, underscoring the gravity and relief of her rescue. This case continues to unfold as authorities piece together the events leading to her disappearance and subsequent recovery.

According to detectives, the teen alleged the three of them would sleep in the same bed in the basement and that Crumity sexually assaulted and raped her at least once a day for the past week that she was there.

While at the hospital, the teen told detectives it was the safest she’s ever felt, according to charges.

Crumity was placed in Allegheny County Jail with bail denied. He’s been charged with multiple felonies, including trafficking, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with minors, sexual assault, corruption of minors, and other related misdemeanors.

The woman who allegedly met the teen in D.C. has no known charges pending against her, according to the Pennsylvania court system. It’s currently unknown if charges will be filed.
