Poisoned by Love: The Eye-Drop Murder of a Retired Police Chief
Share and Follow

Initially, it seemed like former police chief Rick Young was simply feeling his age, experiencing symptoms like disorientation, exhaustion, and heart palpitations.

Little did anyone know that a trusted lifelong acquaintance was stealthily orchestrating his demise.

This week on Pathology with Dr. Priya, part of the “Zone 7” series, Sheryl McCollum and Dr. Priya Banerjee delve into Marcy Oglesby’s chilling plot. Over several months, she covertly added over-the-counter eye drops to Young’s meals and beverages.

After Young’s body was found in a storage unit, toxicology reports revealed he had lethal concentrations of tetrahydrozoline, the active compound in many eye drops.

Dr. Priya elaborates on how this substance affects the heart and blood vessels, the challenges in detecting it without specific tests, and the reasons these types of poisonings often go unnoticed until it’s tragically late.
