David Beckham, the legendary football icon, has recently been knighted at Windsor Castle, honored for his significant contributions to both sport and charity. The 50-year-old celebrated this prestigious moment in the presence of his wife, Victoria, and his parents, receiving the accolade from King Charles. This recognition follows years of anticipation, as Beckham’s path to knighthood faced setbacks due to previous email leaks that reportedly affected his chances.
Despite these hurdles, Beckham’s knighthood was finally confirmed in the King’s Birthday Honours list. He has long been seen as a deserving candidate, given his illustrious football career. Beckham achieved remarkable success, winning major trophies in England, Spain, France, and the United States, including the Champions League with Manchester United. His influence extends beyond the pitch, as he has become a British cultural icon and a global ambassador for soccer. As images of a proud Beckham receiving his knighthood circulated online, Good Morning Britain personality Narinder Kaur shared her perspective on social platform X.
Kaur humorously remarked, “You all laugh at me when I beg for Loose Women or Strictly but… If he can beg it and annoy his way to greatness, then I absolutely can too. Don’t stop me now! (Congratulations to David).”
However, her comments sparked a wave of criticism from the public, with many rushing to commend David Beckham.
One supporter commented, “A fantastic role model and a great ambassador for the country. When you think of some of the less deserving individuals who have been knighted, he truly deserves it.”
Another fumed: “How have you turned David Beckham being knighted into a post about yourself, you self-obsessed, cretinous, hairy-flapped menace???”
“He captained the England football team and has worked tirelessly for charities. You only care about YOU, Narinda.. Try looking around a bit,” said a third.
As another pointed out: “He’s raised millions for several charities, helped underprivileged children get into sports, how on earth is that ‘begging it’? Who are you and what have you done again?”
Narinder’s plea to join Strictly comes just months after she accused the show’s boss of racism after she was rejected for being “too controversial” when they’d announced Thomas Skinner as a contestant.
In a video, she ranted: “I am so raging right now with the BBC, I’m so over the BBC. You’ve just apologised to Robert Jenrick and you’ve just taken on Thomas Skinner for Strictly Come Dancing.
“Now I’ll tell you my problem here, and you’re going to say, ‘Oh she’s so bitter’, you can do that all day long, I’m okay with that. Strictly Come Dancing won’t take me on, we approached them and I was told by a producer, ‘You’re a bit too controversial, we don’t need that for the show’. I accept that.
“But god forbid you’re a brown woman who has some opinions, then they’ll never take you on. But if you’re a white man, Thomas Skinner, proud patriot of the online right who’s got a criminal past, charged with theft, you’re all right.”
