St. Louis Shock Clinch Historic Victory with First Major League Pickleball Cup Win

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – In an impressive display of skill and teamwork, The St. Louis Shock, representing St. Louis’ professional pickleball scene, clinched victory at the inaugural Major League Pickleball Cup over the weekend.

This newly established Major League Pickleball Cup serves as a thrilling conclusion to the pickleball season, distinct from the regular season and playoffs. Hosted at the Brookhaven Country Club in the Dallas suburbs, this three-day event featured a high-stakes, single-elimination format, drawing in the league’s premier teams for a chance at glory.

As pickleball continues to surge in popularity, there’s been a noticeable increase in eye-related injuries associated with the sport, according to a recent study.

Men’s Doubles: 11-7
Mixed Doubles 1: 11-3
Mixed Doubles 2: 11-4

In the finals held on Sunday, The St. Louis Shock faced off against the Dallas Flash, the tournament’s leading contenders. The Shock’s path to victory involved winning three out of four intense matchups against their rivals.

Despite an initial setback in the women’s doubles match, where they lost 13-11 in a nail-biting overtime, the Shock made a remarkable comeback by securing three consecutive wins, thus capturing the very first Major League Pickleball Cup title.

Founded by 2023, the St. Louis Shock are owned by philanthropist Richard Chaifetz and play their home matches at Chaifetz Arena on the St. Louis University campus.
