The ninth season of Love Is Blind offered an especially intense experience for contestant Megan Walerius, affectionately known as Sparkle Megan. Within the show’s unique setting, she developed feelings for a man in the pods who was navigating life as a single father to a young son managing diabetes.
Despite their engagement and journey together on the Netflix series, Megan ultimately concluded that their lifestyles were too different to sustain a marriage. This led her to call off the engagement in the season’s final episode. However, during the reunion episode, Megan made a surprising revelation that stunned her fellow cast members—she had become a mother less than a year after the show ended.
During the reunion, Megan unveiled a significant update: she had formed a new relationship and welcomed a baby boy named Brooks with her partner. Fans of the show will remember that Megan ended her relationship with Jordan, her on-screen fiancé, because she felt uncertain about stepping into the role of a stepmother at that time.
Megan Confirmed She Had A Baby After Filming
It wasn’t until the reunion that former Season 9 contestant Megan dropped a huge bombshell of news: she not only had a new partner, but the two had welcomed a baby together, a healthy boy named Brooks. Those who had been following the season will recall that Megan broke up with her fiancé from the show, Jordan, because she wasn’t sure she was ready to commit to the responsibility of being a stepmom.
In an emotional confession to the cameras, Megan even said that the breakup with Jordan was making her reconsider whether she was ever cut out to be a parent. It seems that after filming, however, she hit it off with her new partner, Paul, right away. Things got serious as the pair began a relationship—so much so that when she got pregnant three months into dating, she decided to move forward with it.
In a candid conversation with People, Megan shared that she had gone back on her previous confession to the Love Is Blind cameras, and that she was now eager for the chance to become a mom:
[When I found out I was pregnant,] I was excited and happy, but also surprised and a little scared. I’d been told by multiple doctors in the past that getting pregnant naturally would likely be very difficult for me because of a congenital condition, so when it happened so quickly, I was a little taken aback.
“I think a part of me still carried the fear that I might not be ready to be a mom, but I can confidently say that those doubts and fears feel very far away today, and motherhood has easily turned into my favorite and most fulfilling chapter of life thus far,” she added.
She Kept Her Entire Pregnancy A Secret
One of the most surprising parts of Megan’s reveal is that not even her castmates and close pod squad knew about her birth. She shared during the reunion that she was able to keep her entire pregnancy a secret, as after filming for so many weeks, she was interested in keeping her private life as private as possible.
When Megan shared the news about the birth of her son, the other cast members appeared shocked. Some of the women joked that it made sense now why Megan appeared “thick” compared to the last time they saw her. Megan noted that, even in her personal life, she’d kept things under wraps—though she’d had a baby shower, phones and photos were strictly forbidden.
For her part, Megan explained in the same conversation with the outlet that it was a huge weight off her shoulders to finally be able to come clean about her life update:
There’s definitely a sense of relief in finally being able to share this part of my life and to just live normally as a family without feeling like we’re hiding.
