In response to the ongoing federal government shutdown, Carl’s Jr. restaurants across Southern California are stepping up to support affected families. Hundreds of locations are offering meals priced at just one dollar, a gesture confirmed by officials to KTLA.

Since November 1, restaurants under the management of Akash Management LLC, a prominent Carl’s Jr. franchisee, have been providing a Kids Hamburger, Small Fry, and Kids Drink at this reduced price. With nearly 300 locations scattered throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire, this initiative aims to assist families and government workers feeling the financial sting of the shutdown.

Amir Siddiqi, the franchise owner and CEO, emphasized the importance of community support during challenging times. “We live here. We work here. We raise our families here,” Siddiqi stated. “When our community is under stress, we feel it too. Offering a warm meal at a fair price can provide a moment of comfort during uncertain times, and that is significant to us.”

In other news, a search is currently underway in Oregon for an ‘experienced’ hunter, spotlighting the community’s ongoing efforts and concerns beyond the shutdown.

To receive the discounted meal, guests are asked to show one of the following:

  • A federal government employee ID
  • A military ID
  • A SNAP or EBT card

No additional purchase or signup is required. The offer will remain available for the duration of the shutdown, while supplies last.

“In moments like this, being a good neighbor means stepping forward,” Siddiqi added. “If this helps even a little, that is what we are here to do.”
