In Florida, a tragic incident unfolded when a high school student fatally shot a classmate following a hallway collision and a subsequent refusal to apologize, as reported by authorities.

Jacori Redding, aged 15, is charged with the murder of Pinien Dalmacy, 16, which occurred near Oak Ridge High School in Orlando on October 9. The confrontation began as a seemingly trivial dispute between the two sophomores.

The situation escalated when Redding did not apologize after accidentally bumping into Dalmacy. The teens then decided to settle their differences in a fight at the nearby Vogt-Meloon Park courts.

Tragically, the altercation took a deadly turn when Redding allegedly used a firearm to shoot and kill his fellow student, according to the police.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina expressed his frustration during an October 10 press briefing: “It’s infuriating that a simple bump in a school hallway—something we’ve all experienced—has escalated into the tragic shooting of a 16-year-old.”

‘This death could have been prevented, but a 15-year-old with a gun made the choice to change someone’s life.’

Redding has been charged with manslaughter, possession of a firearm on school property and possession of a firearm by a minor, according to the Orange County jail system.

He was booked into the system on October 31.

The 15-year-old sophomore is being charged as an adult, WFTV reported.

The sheriff said deputies responded to the shooting around 2.45pm and found that Dalmacy had been shot twice.

Witnesses corroborated that Redding had bumped into Dalmacy on the high school’s campus earlier that day.

Dalmacy ‘asked, or told’ his classmate to apologize, the sheriff added. When that did not happen, the two agreed to fight after school.

After the shooting, Redding ‘ran back onto campus.’

Deputies found him in the school cafeteria with a gun inside a backpack, though police don’t yet know how Redding obtained the weapon at this time.

Mina said the initial investigation implied ‘no ongoing history’ between the two students, but stressed that law enforcement was still looking into the ‘very tragic incident.’

‘It’s unfortunate,’ he said. ‘Both of them were sophomores and had their entire lives ahead of them.’

Redding was already pending trial for grand theft auto, the sheriff added.

The 15-year-old appeared in juvenile court last Friday and was ordered to stay in detention, per CBS12.

His family was in attendance and shouted, ‘I love you Cori!’

A motion for pre-trial detention filed in the Orange County court system said Redding had 39 separate incidents of discipline at school, including at least 17 for ‘physical altercations including battery and fighting.’

Redding’s phone was analyzed by police and showed a ‘long history of talking about having a firearm and using it for violence,’ per the motion.

The document alleged that text messages sent in July appeared to imply that Redding was ‘planning to be in a fight.’

One witness added that Redding was ‘flashing hand signs that he thought might be gang related’ before the fight and ‘smiling the whole time’ during the fatal brawl.

The Orange County Corrections Department told the Daily Mail that Redding had appeared in court for his pre-trial hearing Wednesday morning and declined to share further details.
