Target's Thanksgiving meal deal drops below $20

Thanksgiving is set to be more affordable this year, thanks to Target’s latest offering: a complete holiday meal for four priced at under $20, breaking down to less than $5 per serving.

In a move that intensifies the competitive landscape of grocery retail, Target, headquartered in Minneapolis, has announced that it will offer this budget-friendly Thanksgiving feast at its lowest price point yet. This initiative comes at a critical time when many families are grappling with rising food costs as the festive season approaches.

The budget meal package features a selection of classic Thanksgiving staples. It includes a premium frozen turkey from Target’s Good & Gather line, with options up to 10 pounds, along with a 5-pound bag of russet potatoes. Also part of the package are Ocean Spray cranberry sauce, Stove Top stuffing, Heinz turkey gravy, French bread, and frozen corn — a spread sure to delight many households this holiday.

For those who prefer to customize their meal preparations, Target is maintaining last year’s affordable turkey pricing at 79 cents per pound, allowing shoppers the flexibility to purchase their bird separately if desired.

For shoppers who want to buy their bird separately, Target is also keeping turkey prices at 79 cents per pound, matching last year’s rate.

Target is also rolling out an expanded selection of ready-to-serve sides and desserts, all priced at $4.99 each. New additions include harvest squash empanadas, chicken pot pie empanadas and mashed sweet potatoes with cinnamon and brown sugar, alongside traditional pumpkin and apple pies.

The aggressive pricing comes as retailers compete for budget-conscious holiday shoppers. The Minneapolis-based retailer operates nearly 2,000 stores nationwide and has struggled to turn around weak sales in a more competitive retail landscape. It has been the subject of consumer boycotts over its rollback of diversity, equity and inclusion policies, its CEO resigned in August and the company announced in October it will lay off about 8% of its global corporate workforce.

The under-$20 meal deal pricing is valid as of Nov. 2.
