A woman from Southern California has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison following her conviction for the fatal consequences of a failed silicone injection into a Hollywood actress’s buttocks. This decision came down on Wednesday, marking the culmination of a legal battle that has captured significant attention.

Libby Adame, aged 55, was found guilty earlier this month in Riverside County. She faced charges of second-degree murder and practicing medicine without certification, relating to the tragic death of Cindyana Santangelo in March 2025. The procedure, intended to enhance Santangelo’s appearance, took place within the confines of her Malibu residence.

Cindyana Santangelo, who was 58 at the time of her death, had a notable career with appearances in popular television series such as “CSI: Miami,” “ER,” and “Married with Children.” Her presence also graced the music video for the 1989 hit “Bust a Move” by Young MC, adding to her diverse repertoire in the entertainment industry.

During the trial, Santangelo’s husband, Frank Santangelo, testified that Adame fled their home as his wife began convulsing after the injection.

Adame had a prior history of performing unauthorized silicone butt injections.

In 2024, she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the 2019 death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul in Sherman Oaks. She was sentenced to four years and four months in prison, while her daughter, Alicia Galaz, who assisted with the procedure, received three years and eight months.

Both received credit for time already served and electronic monitoring, allowing Adame to resume cosmetic procedures within a year.

Prosecutors also presented evidence suggesting that Adame was aware of the risks associated with silicone injections well before these deaths.

According to the Los Angeles Times, security camera footage from 2018 captured her fleeing a South Gate salon as paramedics treated another woman who later died – an incident predating both Rajpaul’s and Santangelo’s fatalities.
