In Bulloch County, Georgia, the local school district is providing a unique opportunity for residents to earn their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the added benefit of financial compensation for their time.

The Bulloch County School District (BCSD) has introduced a Saturday CDL Training Program. This initiative offers trainees the chance to obtain a Class B CDL, complete with Passenger and School Bus Endorsements, and includes a $250 stipend.

“Becoming a school bus driver is an excellent way to supplement your income without having to leave your current job,” explained Dr. Brad Boykin, the assistant superintendent of Business Services, who is responsible for overseeing Transportation. “We offer flexible scheduling that allows you to maintain your regular employment while contributing to the education of local students.”

The district’s bus drivers come from diverse backgrounds, including farmers, small business owners, retirees, and family members such as parents and grandparents. Dr. Boykin highlighted that parents of student athletes might find driving buses for athletic events appealing, as it grants free entry to away games.

No prior experience is required to join the program. For further information, please click here.
