A suspect has been charged with aggravated arson and is accused of stealing a vehicle belonging to a homicide victim, according to police reports.

In Cicero, Illinois, a man was taken into custody in a different state after being linked to an arson incident. This fire occurred in an apartment building where another individual was discovered shot dead earlier this week.

The blaze erupted around 9:15 p.m. on Monday in a three-story building located on the 1800 block of 51st Avenue, as stated by local officials.

After the fire was put out, first responders discovered Jesus Daniel Nunez Campana deceased inside the building. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that he died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Naman Alfredo Vazquez, who was identified as Campana’s roommate, was apprehended in New Mexico. He faces a charge for possessing a stolen vehicle, which authorities believe was owned by the victim.

No further information from local authorities was immediately available.
