The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) in Georgia has secured an $86,533 High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) based in Atlanta. This funding aims to bolster traffic safety efforts in the region.

According to Allen Poole, director of GOHS, “Crash data indicates that enforcing and educating the public about traffic laws are among the most effective strategies to reduce accidents and prevent fatalities and serious injuries on our roads. Every life saved means one less family enduring the heartache of losing a loved one in a preventable traffic accident.”

Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie expressed gratitude for the grant, stating, “These funds for traffic enforcement enhance our ability to improve public safety, curb hazardous driving behaviors, and ensure safer roads for all. With this support, we can allocate more personnel and technology to tackle pressing traffic issues and ultimately save lives.”
