Wild weather has lashed Melbourne on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.

Yesterday, the city experienced a significant temperature disparity, with the thermometer reading a high of 28 degrees while the “feels like” temperature was around 25 degrees.

Today, attendees at Flemington endured challenging weather conditions, including sideways rain, gusty winds, and heavy showers.

The temperature has plummeted to 11 degrees, and the perceived temperature is a chilly 6 degrees.

Weather forecasts predict that showers will persist in Victoria’s capital until the upcoming Tuesday.

However, temperatures are anticipated to rise, reaching a milder 20 degrees on Monday, before dropping slightly to 15 degrees on Tuesday.

Meanwhile the heat is peaking in eastern parts of NSW, with temperatures expected to reach at 36 degrees in Penrith and 33 degrees in Sydney.

Nowra on the state’s south coast and Dubbo in the central west could reach a top of 33 degrees.

Large hail stones and damaging winds could affect parts of these communities this afternoon.
